Eco Expo Asia: The preeminent trading platform for green businesses in Asia celebrates 10 years

Exhibitors and pavilions express strong interest in 2015 show with new “Embracing a Green and Sustainable Future” theme

Booming eco market spells infinite opportunities for Asia

Entering its 10th edition this year, Eco Expo Asia, the preeminent trading platform for green businesses in Asia, will once again gather industry experts and internationally renowned brands at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong from 28 – 31 October 2015. The show is organised by Messe Frankfurt (HK) Ltd and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, with co-organisation by the Environment Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). The event also has the full support of Chinese mainland and international governments, as well as influential industry associations. Last year, the show welcomed a record-breaking 308 exhibitors from 22 countries and regions, and received 10,817 visitors from 89 countries and regions.

Commenting on the show, Mr Wong Kam-sing, Secretary for the Environment of the Government of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, said: “Eco Expo Asia is a unique and premium environmental trade event. It is a valuable platform for experts to exchange views and experience to promote green businesses. This will further give impetus to sustainable development in Hong Kong and the wider Asia Pacific region.”

During the four-day event, visitors can expect a showcase of cutting-edge green solutions, world-class industry technologies and the latest eco-friendly products from leading industry players. The show will also be open to public on its last day.

Exhibitors and pavilions express strong interest in 2015 show with new “Embracing a Green and Sustainable Future” theme

To reflect the new theme “Embracing a Green and Sustainable Future”, this year’s show will feature special themed days including “Global Green Insights”, “Cleaner Production and Waste Management”, “Green Building and Energy Efficiency” as well as “Green Living”. Prominent brands and speakers will share valuable insights on trending industry developments across Asia at concurrent events.

Furthermore, the fair will host a strong line-up of exhibitors. A number of high-profile companies have already shown great interest in returning to the show. Satisfied 2014 exhibitor Mr Olli Gunst, Marketing Manager at Enevo Oy in Finland, noted: “We are a company that is already quite established throughout Europe, the US and 25 other countries. In the coming two years, we will focus on expanding to Asia Pacific and other developing markets. We do not know anything about the Chinese mainland but the fair is certainly helping us to learn more about this market. The scale of the show is massive and there is a lot of potential for our business. We have met some good direct customers and there is definitely room for cooperation.”

Apart from the positive support from exhibitors, both new and returning overseas pavilions representing Finland, Japan, Korea, and Switzerland are also planning to join the fair again. The Switzerland Pavilion in particular may be occupying an addition 25% of exhibition space compared to the previous edition with the success from last year.

Booming eco market spells infinite opportunities for Asia

Business opportunities for the green industry in Asia are bountiful while the region’s economy and population continue to grow. Driven by favourable government policies, the region’s annual revenue generated from building energy conservation-related technologies and services is expected to more than double from 2013 figures to USD 91.6 billion by 2022. As for annual expenditure on solid waste management, it is expected to reach USD 50 billion by 2025.

With Chinese mainland gradually steering their focus towards green and sustainable construction, it is predicted that the demand for building energy conservation products and materials will exceed USD 6.5 billion in just two years. In addition, the government’s ambition to curb building energy consumption by increasing the use of renewables and complying with the revised Green Building Evaluation Standard has also created immense business opportunities for the entire industry.

Moreover, in an attempt to minimise landfill saturation problems, the Hong Kong government targets to convert 3,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste (MSW) and 1,500 tonnes of sludge into energy by 2020 by introducing state-of-the-art integrated waste management facilities. This is bound to boost the demand for waste management solutions, waste treatment technologies and waste-to-energy facilities.

With a number of pressing environmental challenges worldwide, Eco Expo Asia 2015 aims to serve as a holistic platform that offers greener solutions, as well as enables companies, government officials and individuals to connect.
