Exhibitors' and Visitors' Comments
Exhibitors quotes:

“VTC has participated in the Education & Careers Expo for more than 10 years. The VTC design concept of ‘Progression’ by HKDI Higher Diploma students has been adopted this year, which symbolises the multiple pathways offered by VTC to help students unleash their potential and forge ahead toward their life goals in different professions. Featuring the uniqueness of different member institutions, namely THEi, IVE, HKDI, YC, and HTI/CCI/ICI, our booth provides wide-ranging programme information to young people with different backgrounds and abilities. Outstanding student-teacher collaborative works on technological innovation are showcased on the newly-launched Technology Exploration Zone. We are pleased to see that a new theme day on ‘Culinary & Bakery’ was organised this year to highlight our culinary programmes and to share the successful stories of our alumni in this industry. The new 白collaboration on Interactive Experiential Zone, which was well received by youth and the public, showcases VTC’s technological and mechanical innovations to the visitors through an interactive way. The Expo provides VTC with an effective platform to showcase our students’ achievements and reach out to the community to promote the value of vocational and professional education and training in Hong Kong.”
Ms Leah Chung, Director, External Relations Office, Vocational Training Council (VTC), Hong Kong

“We are making our debut exhibition at HKTDC Education & Careers Expo this year to promote Qianhai’s second internship programme for tertiary students in Hong Kong. Last year, a total of 238 Hong Kong students participated in our four- to six-week internship programme to work in various businesses including banks, IT companies and legal firms. We are keen to attract more students this year by participating in the Expo. This fair serve as a solid platform for us to meet more students in Hong Kong and promote the opportunities available in Qianhai area. So far, we’ve received very positive responses. We will also participate in the upcoming International ICT Expo in April to enhance our exposure. Education & Careers Expo is a good show. We certainly hope to exhibit here again next year.”
Lierence Li Kam Chuen, PR Manager, Qianhai International Liaison Services Limited, Chinese mainland

“We are participating in HKTDC Education & Careers Expo for the second consecutive year. To raise our exposure, we’ve got a bigger booth and invited 19 local companies and organisations to exhibit here. There are different job opportunities on offer. Industry players are working closely together to promote the development of electrical and mechanical services. The response has been very good and we’ve seen a large number of visitors and students. With more efforts, we expect the results to be even better than last year. This Expo offers a good chance to reach out to the public. We will take advantage of this platform to promote the growth of electrical and mechanical services and attract more young people to join the profession.”
Stanley Chow Wai-yip, Senior Engineer/Training, Electrical and Mechanical Services Department, Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

“CityU SCOPE is taking the lead to introduce 3-Year UK Bachelor’s Honours Degree Programmes in Hong Kong. Run jointly with prestigious universities in the UK, the programmes are welcome options for DSE graduates. HKTDC Education & Careers Expo provides a good platform for us to attract more students and promote the programmes. Today is the first day of exhibition. We expect more DSE students and their parents to come in the next few days to gather information about higher education opportunities. Our programmes enable students to study a UK degree in Hong Kong and that will save financial costs considerably. Students also enjoy opportunities in overseas student exchange and short study tours. We are positive of generating good responses through the Expo.”
Daniel K F Choi, Programme-in-Charge, School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE), City University of Hong Kong

Visitors’ Comments

“The Expo offers a lot of information about overseas education opportunities. I am currently studying Form 6 and will take DSE examinations soon. After the exams, I will consider pursuing higher education abroad. This is my second-year visit to the Expo. I found it very exciting and there’re a large number of visitors. I’ve gained better understanding about study programmes offered by various overseas education institutions, especially universities in USA, UK and Canada. HKIES Overseas Education Centre, one of the exhibitors, was particularly helpful and explained in detail the prospect of further education opportunities in the UK. I am interested in business-related programmes. I’ve collected a good amount of programme materials and will look into them carefully with my family.”
Yau Wing-tung, Form 6 Student, Hong Kong

“I am studying psychology at Monash University in Australia and will graduate next year. This is my first visit to HKTDC Education & Careers Expo. I’ve returned from Australia for a short vacation in Hong Kong and learned about this event from friends. The Expo is very informative offering so much to see and study. I am exploring all kinds of opportunities available in Hong Kong and elsewhere in the world such as the UK, France and Germany. A master programme on psychology is a choice for higher education. I am also interested in various foreign language courses. Job opportunities offered on the other side of the Expo certainly have appeal. I am willing to explore various opportunities after graduation next year. A job in the business and finance-related field will also be an option. The Expo is a great event.”
Venise Lam, Year 3 Student, Monash University, Australia

“This is my first visit to the Expo. I learned about this event after watching the HKTDC promotional video on YouTube. I have been working in the social welfare field for several years. The Expo provides a very good platform for me to look for different job opportunities in both private and public sectors. There are so many offerings available all under one roof, making it very efficient to find new jobs. I’ve found some interesting job opportunities such as event management and clerical work with Civil Service Bureau. This is an excellent event for both job seekers and people pursuing further education. We can take advantage of the platform to meet and communicate with professionals in different fields as well as programme leaders. It’s an exceptional experience.”
Matthew Wong, Job Seeker, Hong Kong

“I am here attending an international financial services conference. It happened HKTDC Education & Careers Expo opened today so I took this chance to explore job opportunities. I just spoke to representatives of some exhibitors including a wealth management company and international Committee of the Red Cross. There are many interesting jobs on offer. I will consider various options for a career change and may eventually take up a job in Hong Kong. This a very nice expo providing good opportunities for education and career development. The organiser has done a great job.”
