“Airport Authority Hong Kong is participating in the HKTDC Education & Careers Expo 2019 to recruit employees and promote various aviation-related programmes at the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy. A great variety of job opportunities are being offered while visitors can learn more about the prospect of training and career development with us. Our Management Trainee Programme and Graduate Engineer Programme are two highlighted schemes at the Expo. Established by the Airport Authority in 2016, the Hong Kong International Aviation Academy is the first civil aviation academy in Hong Kong offering various summer day camps, beginners’ programmes and professional certificate courses. We have since organised more than 430 programmes with over 10,000 participants. The Expo offers a good platform to promote the academy and its programmes. The response has been very positive. We’ve met with many industry representatives, students and teachers, and they’ve expressed keen interest in our programmes. Some job-seekers have approached us to apply for jobs. Visitors can submit applications on the spot but we encourage them to make online applications. The Expo is a dynamic and successful showcase.”

“Hong Kong Shue Yan University enters its 47th year in 2019. With the Research Complex completed in 2016, we have enhanced our campus facilities offering comprehensive programmes with over 1,000 residential places for students. We are participating in HKTDC Education & Careers Expo again to gain more exposure. Two new degree programmes of The Business Faculty, namely Digital Marketing and Corporate Governance & Risk Management, are highlighted in particular this year. Students taking these two new programmes will be entitled to a HK$20,000 scholarship each, doubling the amount for other Business Faculty programmes. The feedback is excellent. We have met with so many secondary school students here and they have shown strong interest in our programmes. Our Business Faculty graduates also take the chance to share university experiences with students. This is a very successful exhibition to draw students. HKTDC has done a great job. Everything has been professionally run and well managed.

Since our inception, we have filed over 1,000 patent applications worldwide and as of today 799 patents have been granted. More than 80 full-time vacancies are being offered with on-the-spot interviews available for applicants. Also highlighted are our summer internship and graduate internship programmes. “Education in Ireland is gaining popularity with students from different parts of the world arriving in the island republic for quality study opportunities. We see a steady stream of Hong Kong students pursuing further studies in Ireland over the years. That’s why we participate in HKTDC Education & Careers Expo every year to promote different university programmes to students. We have brought together 5 educational institutions this year including two institutes of technology, two universities and an institution providing associate degree and diploma courses. Tuition fees are very competitive in Ireland. Popular programmes taken by Hong Kong students include sociology, accounting, finance, engineering, computer science and medicines. A number of students have visited our booth to make enquiry about different programmes. The response has been encouraging. With an economic recovery, Ireland offers a lot of job opportunities. Overseas students graduating after their university studies will get a 12-month permit to work in Ireland while those completing master degrees will enjoy a 24-month work permit. This is another attraction as people can apply for naturalisation after 5 years of work in Ireland. This Expo is a perfect place to promote education in Ireland.”
Anthony Cheng, Director, Irish International Education Center, Ireland

“I look around and find some new information about further studies and career prospects for our university students. There is a strong presence of overseas educational institutions offering different kinds of continuing education programmes. I have acquired a lot of information about working holidays, scholarships and further studies in countries like Germany, Japan, Korea and Australia from various consulate generals in Hong Kong and overseas institutions. The talk by a participating Japanese institution on scholarships for students wishing to study in Japan was also interesting. I am now going to visit the career booths on the other side of the Expo to get some latest information about the job market. This Expo has a good mix of everything for continuing education and career development.”
Sharon Tse Nga Ting, Senior Careers Officer, Career Planning and Development, Student Affairs Office, The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong

“I am now working on a part-time basis. This is my first-time visit to HKTDC Education & Careers Expo to find more job opportunities. I am looking for a full-time job and there are many options being showcased here. I am interested in joining the civil service in particular. I have got in touch with the Fire Services Department. I am not physically good enough to be a fire fighter but the department has an emergency hotline operator position that may suit me. I’ve also got some information about the Immigration Assistant position for one of my friends who wishes to join the Immigration Department. On continuing education, I found the SCAD Foundation (Hong Kong) Limited’s advanced course on art studies quite interesting and will consider taking the programme. My sister is studying design and she should be interested in the illustrations and animation course offered by the Hong Kong School of Animation & Visual Effects. This Expo is an amazing exhibition. I really love it.”
Vistine Wong Hei Tung, Job Seeker, Hong Kong

“I am now studying a computer-related course in the Vocational Training Council. This is my first visit to HKTDC Education & Careers Expo to find continuing education opportunities. The fair brings together a lot of overseas education programmes from different places such as Australia, Europe and USA. I am most interested in pursuing further education in the Chinese mainland. The Chinese economy is growing every year so the career development prospects look really promising. I am especially keen to pursue studies in the field of computer game and animation. China now boasts strong R&D capability on electronic games and animation that can rival the Western countries. It will be great to find relevant degree programmes in the Chinese mainland. I have got in touch with some Chinese mainland educational institutions at the Expo and will explore my options carefully.
Lee Cheuk Leung, Student of Vocational Training Council, Hong Kong

“I am a Form Six student in Hong Kong and will take DSE exam this year. This Expo is an excellent showcase. I have been looking forward to visiting this fair for a long time as it’s a well-known education and career exhibition. There are so many education and career options available here. The career section showcases a great variety of job opportunities and that really enriches my understanding of the employment market. I will focus on continuing education now. Information technology is my passion and I would like to pursue computer-related studies in university. I have already found useful information about programmes at two Australian universities including Monash University. The Philippine Consulate General Hong Kong SAR showcases a lot of study information including three universities in the Philippines offering some interesting programmes. This Expo helps me a lot to get a lot of information and to explore my options. It’s just wonderful.”
