Fashion World
Looks to Hong Kong

Asia’s leading fashion event, HKTDC Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter, is the conduit for exhibitors to enter new markets or expand their presence in established markets. It is one of the most vibrant events in the annual fashion calendar, offering a platform for favourite brands as well as exciting new talent. Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, the fair drew some 15,000 buyers from 77 countries and regions in 2017 to meet with more than 1,500 exhibitors from 21 countries and regions.
Global Sourcing Hub
Hong Kong has long been a trading hub in finished garments and accessories, as well as fabrics and fittings, with companies well-versed in procurement, sales and marketing, quality control, logistic arrangements, clothing designs and international and national rules and regulations. Such companies form one of the largest groups involved in import-export trade in Hong Kong.

Hong Kong’s clothing and accessories companies are showcased at Fashion Week, some promoting their own brands. ODM and OEM producers from Hong Kong are known for their ability to deliver quality outcome in a short lead-time.

Comprehensive Coverage
Exhibitors cover a wide industry spectrum, from high-volume, mass-market items to exclusive brands, and are zoned for maximum exposure. As well as clothing for ladies, men, children and babies, there are well-patronised zones for fashion accessories. More specialised areas include sportswear, knitwear, evening and bridal wear, and lingerie. Certain strong market trends are catered for in specific zones such as the popular Urban Clothing zone. Fabrics, buttons and labels, fashion tech, inspection, testing, certification and verification services all have dedicated spaces.

Some Zone Highlights
One of today’s strongest trends is the crossover of active wear with fashion, so the Fashionable Sportswear zone is ideal for exhibitors catering to this trend. Health and fitness programmes such as yoga, Pilates, kick boxing and zumba are growing in popularity in Asia. Sports apparel and sports footwear make up almost 35 per cent of Hong Kong’s exports of sporting goods. Hong Kong’s expertise in sporting goods and its strength in the fashion industry complement each other, both supported by ancillary industries supplying threads, fabrics, zippers, labels and other components, all at reasonable prices.

Fashion Accessories
covers every item which completes the total look, from shawls and scarves to costume jewellery, shoes and bags. With the men’s market growing all the time, Menswear puts exhibitors of masculine fashion in the spotlight.

For up-and-coming designers and brands, the International Fashion Designers’ Showcase could well be the launch pad for success. Emporium de Mode is a showcase for high-end fashion distinguished by exquisite attention to detail. Fashion Gallery has a younger, trendier vibe for its collections. Fabrics & Yarn welcomes suppliers of fabrics for apparel, fibres, lace/embroidery fabrics, yarn, eco-yarn and eco-fabrics.

Action-packed Fair
Fashion Week is known for its lively atmosphere with all the excitement of new collections unveiled in glamorous runway shows. Participants can attend the renowned fashion forecast seminars as well as other seminars and forums on market trends and the latest technologies. Networking events not only promote new relationships, they disseminate important industry updates.

Centre of the Action
The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) is ideally located for exhibitors at Fashion Week to enjoy all Hong Kong has to offer. Situated at the heart of bustling downtown Wan Chai, it is close to banks, shops, hotels, restaurants and more. HKCEC is conveniently accessed by all forms of public transport - train, bus, taxi and ferry.

Trio Give Complete Fashion Picture
Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter joins with Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer and CENTRESTAGE, to give fashion buyers complete coverage of the year’s offerings by leading designers and manufacturers. Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer is a complementary seasonal fair held in July while CENTRESTAGE, which returns in September 2017, throws the spotlight on international and regional brands, ready-to-wear and designer labels with a special focus on Asia.

Exhibitor’s Comment

“Wakingbee offers all kinds of female fashionable sportswear for yoga, fitness and running as well as leisurewear. Through our first exhibition at last year’s Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer, we made good contacts and successfully got orders from a Hong Kong buyer. To expand into other new markets, we are showcasing our fashionable sportswear for the first time at this year’s Fall/Winter edition. The new Fashionable Sportswear zone makes it clearer that this kind of sportswear is a global trend and also enables buyers to find related suppliers easily. We have met with new buyers from Australia, Bahrain, the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Korea and South America. We’ll definitely come back next year.”
