Apart from doing OEM business, we launched our re:echo brand ten years ago to develop our retail business. We have our first exhibition inside the debut Fashionable Sportswear zone at this year’s Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter. The Fashionable Sportswear zone helps buyers locate related suppliers easily. Currently, Europe and the US are the two major markets for our OEM business. As Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter is a leading trade fair of its kind in the region, it provides an ideal platform for us to connect with buyers from all over the world and let more Hong Kong companies know our re:echo brand.”

Winkie Chan, Senior Merchandiser, Acumen Co Ltd, Hong Kong

“We have joined Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter for the first time to promote our Artistic Palace brand, which is renowned for traditional workmanship. At the Brand Collections’ Show held on the second day of the fair, Artistic Palace presented 20 sets of Chinese clothing under three collections, namely The Art of Vitality, LOVE the Classic and Craftsmanship Secret. Our fashion show has aroused strong interest from industry professionals, customers and overseas media, and generated many onsite, online and telephone enquiries from buyers who want to know more about our branded clothing, fabrics and tailor-made requirements. Enquiries came from all over the world, including buyers from Canada, the Chinese mainland, India, Italy and Japan, raising cooperation opportunities. Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter and the Brand Collections’ Show have provided an excellent platform to showcase our Chinese traditional workmanship and innovative designs and to promote our Artistic Palace brand to international buyers. We do hope to participate in this great show every year to present our latest collections.”

“Lucky Company has 20 years of experience in manufacturing crystal accessories which are nice decorations for shoes, handbags, garments and packaging boxes. Our products are exported mainly through trading companies. This is our second year at Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter. It is the right place for us to expand our direct exports and let more buyers know our company because exhibitors here are manufacturers and designers of garments, handbags, shoes and leather goods, and overseas buyers also come here to source crystal accessories. Up till now, more than 10 buyers from Australia, the Chinese mainland, Italy and Malaysia have bought our samples and several local designers have placed small orders for our crystal accessories.”

In the first morning of the show, we met with a Korean retailer who is keen to buy our silk garments and we’ll send samples to this buyer. We also talked to a Hong Kong exhibitor who is interested in buying our stocks under the La Roseraie brand for his retail business, and we expect more retailers and wholesalers will come to our booth in the next few days to buy our stocks.”

“Established 14 years ago, Beni Room operates two multi-brand fashion stores and an online store in Spain, selling women’s garments and fashion accessories. We recently launched coats and T-shirts under our own brand. To expand the product range for our brand, I am visiting the Hong Kong fair for the first time to look for suppliers of down coats, long coats, handbags and sweaters. So far, I have found seven to eight prospective suppliers and I’ll start with small orders like 100 pieces per item. It’s important for me to come here to make new contacts and look for items such as down coats which are not provided by our Spanish suppliers. The fashion shows held during the fair present creative designs from Hong Kong designers and I’ll consider bringing Hong Kong designer labels to our stores.”

Beatriz Nicolás, Owner, Beni Room, Spain

Up till now, I have found 10 potential suppliers from the Chinese mainland and Hong Kong for the supply of gym wear, swimwear, underwear, men’ suits and ladies’ pants. I am waiting for these suppliers to send me samples and quotations. If everything is good, my initial order will be 5,000 pieces per item. I have found two good suppliers of non-iron shirts and polo shirts and asked them to provide samples. They will send catalogues and their prices to us. The eyewear designer wants to meet us in Bangkok in March for further discussions. It usually takes 3 to 6 months to negotiate a deal successfully. We have found new opportunities here.”

“Global Purchasing Companies provides fashion strategy and brand development services to help retailers and new designers grow their presence. This year, 10 fashion retailers and emerging designers mainly from USA have joined us to explore opportunities at Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter. We have achieved good results. For instance, one of the designers has got in touch with Italian exhibitor for collaboration in the supply of winter coats. A retailer from Dominican Republic who came with us is very pleased as she found at least 12 brands from Hong Kong and India for formal dresses and evening gowns. I myself also bought some nice shopping bags and zippers here for my own retailing business. The results have been much better than my last visit back in 2009. Exhibitors are better prepared this time. The small orders zone is absolutely brilliant as it enables buyers to source more flexibly. Today’s business model often goes after high margin and limited supply. Customers are keener to buy when collections come in smaller numbers.”

Mercedes Gonzalez, Director, Global Purchasing Companies, USA

One of them is Hong Kong designer for women’s and men’s apparels. The other is from Japan for men’s bags. This will be the first Japanese brand to sell in our shop. Our customers in Singapore are looking for classic designs from independent designer brands.”

“I am leading an Australian delegation of more than 30 industry players to visit Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter for new business opportunities. These professionals come from more than 15 companies including designers and retailers as well as startups and those in sourcing business. Some of them are visiting the fair for the first time to find suppliers, branded collections, accessories and textiles. We are pleased with the exhibition this year. Some of our businesses have already got deals done and placed orders. We noticed that there has been an increase in textiles on display this year. When Internet is taking the market share, trade fairs are still important for buyers to feel, touch and see what’s really happening on the ground. Hong Kong Fashion Week is a B2B trade show offering genuine business opportunities. With profound expertise, HKTDC provides a successful sourcing platform for the industry and brings together quality exhibitors for buyers.”

“In business for 15 years, Volansky is a leading fashion retailer in Czech Republic. Based in Brno, the country’s second-biggest city, we operate a chain of 10 retail stores selling a wide range of collections for men and women. We are visiting Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter for the first time with the focus on ladies’ wear, handbags, evening dresses, jackets as well as menswear. We have established contact with three exhibitors for business cooperation. They include the exhibitors from Hong Kong, Japan for fashion jewellery and the Chinese mainland for men’s suits. We will discuss with our shop managers for their designs and collections. We will place orders after further negotiation. The amount of potential orders will range from 300-500 pieces style per colour to as many as 1,000 pieces per style per colour. There are quite a number of exhibitors at this fair. They are very friendly and willing to be flexible in order quantity.”

“Yan Xuan is an online retail business under NetEase in the Chinese mainland. In business for just over a year, we have witnessed fast-growing business development. We are now expanding the portfolio of our fashion products on sale. Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter is the first trade fair we’ve ever attended. We have already found four potential suppliers from Pakistan and the Chinese mainland for OEM production of menswear, ladies’ wear and pants for our own brand. They will send us samples and information about shipping and pricing details. We hope to place orders once negotiation is successful. Our orders will be in large quantity, usually involving 10,000 pieces per style. I like this fair as we can find many suppliers effectively all under one roof. The existing exhibition zoning has been quite good.”

“YFS is a leading fashion retailer in Malaysia running 105 stores under seven brands across the country. Our flagship YFS chain currently operates 67 multi-branded stores. I am visiting Hong Kong Fashion Week for Fall/Winter for the first time to source products and find suppliers. One of the key objectives is to meet USA exhibitor here to deepen our cooperation. YFS entered into partnership with this USA exhibitor after visiting Hong Kong Fashion Week for Spring/Summer last year. We are now looking to open two concept stores under the premium ladies' fashion brand in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru in March. I've got some latest collections from the USA brand at this fair for the new stores. I have also found three OEM manufacturers from the Chinese mainland for a selection of women's wear for the upcoming launch of a new brand Kate & Bella. Orders were placed already with each of the suppliers, worth US$10,000, US$20,000 and over RMB20,000, respectively. We plan to open 10 boutiques under this new brand within this year. YFS also intends to launch a new brand for menswear during the year. Some Indian suppliers are showcasing quality trousers at competitive prices here. I will negotiate with them for possible cooperation. I downloaded the HKTDC app that helps find exhibitors' information. I like using the app.”
