The World’s Largest Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair
Startup Zone Presents Tech and Licensed Gifts in Force
19 April 2017 – Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and co-organised by The Hong Kong Exporters’ Association, the Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair will run from 27-30 April at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The fair is the world’s largest gift fair with over 4,300 exhibitors from 31 countries and regions this year. It serves as an ideal one-stop marketing and sourcing international platform with a wide variety of latest giftware products from worldwide exhibitors.
Debut of Startup Zone
The inaugural Startup zone will gather young entrepreneurs from Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland and Taiwan. An up-and-coming Hong Kong’s brand Anouk (booth no. 5CON-011) specialises in-home fragrance and body care products as well as customisation services to clients. Another start-up from Taiwan Mr Sheep Co Ltd (booth no.: 5CON-010) will spotlight its paper-shade collections. Having won the German’s Red Dot Design Award 2016, the designer Yide Yang always appeals people with various masterpieces ranging from laptop, coffee machine, vehicle, lamp to furniture. He will spotlight his paper-shade lamps with a fusion of paper-cut, weave and digital manufacturing at the fair. “Startup . Smart Launch” sessions will be held during the fair period for buyers and investors to explore the creativity of start-ups.
Tech gifts in vogue
Tech gifts are prevailing in the giftware industry. Giftware manufacturers unleash its market potential and instill tech features into products. The fair’s “Hall of Fine Designs” will gather over 130 distinguished brands. World-renowned Italian stationery brand Moleskine (Booth no.: 1E-E04) grew out of the experience in producing various types of notebooks in unique designs. The company unveils the Smart Writing Set with smart Pen+ and App to work in tandem to instantly digitise notes and sketches as they are made on paper, which brings its paper-based collections into the digital age. Hali-Power Industrial Company Limited (booth no. 1E-B02), an exhibitor from Hong Kong, introduced its multi-function smart skincare bottle which is able to store toner or lotion to keep kin hydrated whenever you want. Its built-in skin moisture detector enables Bluetooth connection to measure skin moisture in only five seconds.
Licensed gifts with boundless business opportunities
With the proliferation of digital technologies, many personalities, characters and brands have become runaway sensations via the Internet and social media, thus creating boundless licensing opportunities and enriching the gifts market. Hong Kong’s exhibitor I-Smart International Limited (booth no.: 1E-C36) has been in partnerships with Disney, Dr. Slump, One Piece, Sanrio and more to develop and manufacture movie and characters related licensed premium. The company will bring the red-hot Disney’s classic, “Beauty and the Beast” glass dome Bluetooth speaker with preserved fresh rose. The fair’s Licensed Gifts zone will also make its debut with products from Disney, Cottex, local brand Big Horn and so on.
Exquisite local designs
The Hong Kong Exporters’ Association (HKEA), the fair’s co-organiser, will establish an exciting pavilion, showcasing the competitive edge of over 170 Hong Kong exporters. The pavilion will include three major feature zones: Isle of Originality, Brand Oasis and Smart Design Village, promoting exquisite local designs and original brands. IDI Trading Ltd. (booth no.: 5C-F07) will introduce its ToothbatTM, which is a patented four arms designed tooth flossing tool winning various international awards including iF Product Design Award of Germany. It is also one of the winning products of Hong Kong Smart Design Awards 2017 (Bathroom & Personal Care Category). Other exhibitors include local kitchenware brand Kinox (Kinox Trading Ltd. booth no.: 3E-C24) and festive items company Original Spin (Far East) Ltd (booth no.: 1E-F42, 5C-E03). The Hong Kong Smart Design Awards 2017 organised by the HKEA aims to nurture local talents and encourage designers to bring their creative designs to market. The Awards has renamed in 2017 and expanded its categories from gifts industry to home & houseware. The award presentation ceremonies will be held during the Houseware Fair (20 April) and Gifts Fair (27 April), while winning pieces will be on display during fair period.
Ideal platform for effective promotion
A number of seminars and forums will be held during the fair period. Lynn Chang, Eslite Hong Kong Director will share the retail trends from a retailer’s perspective. Other topics include business opportunities in Asian markets, promotional products market and recent industry trends in North America, competiveness of flexible business model and testing and certification services for giftware.
The concurrent Hong Kong International Printing & Packaging Fair will take place at AsiaWorld-Expo. Twin fairs render synergistic effect to stratify sourcing needs of global buyers. Free shuttle bus service will run between HKCEC and AsiaWorld-Expo at regular intervals during the course of the two fairs.
