3 March, 2017- The eighth HKTDC Hong Kong International Medical Devices and Supplies Fair (Medical Fair) will run from 16 to 18 May at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The event is expected to attract over 260 exhibitors from 9 countries and regions, with first-time participants from Czech Republic, Korea and Thailand. In 2016, the fair attracted over 10,000 buyers from 57 countries and regions. Buyers appreciate this valuable opportunity to connect with international exhibitors to source from their diversified products.
In 2016, Hong Kong’s total trade performance of medical and healthcare equipment reached the amount of USD1.6 billion, an increase of 5.8% over the previous year. The top five trading partners include the Chinese mainland, the United States, Japan, the Netherlands and Germany. Over the years, Hong Kong has long served as an important trading hub in the global medical and healthcare equipment industry.
Debut of “World of Healthcare”
According to the United Nations, by 2050, there will be 2.1 billion people who are aged 60 or above, accounting for 25% of the world’s total population. Besides, the latest figures from the World Health Organisation show the total global expenditure for health is around US$6.5 trillion a year. The aging population and increasing awareness of healthcare needs have resulted in a flourishing demand for medical and healthcare products.
In response to the latest market trends, the Medical Fair provides buyers with all kinds of medical and health-related technology, equipment, devices and supplies. The debut of “World of Healthcare” presents healthcare products and services across all age groups. Strong Synergy with the Concurrent Hospital Authority Convention
To foster information exchange, a series of seminars and buyer forums will be scheduled to provide the latest market intelligence to industry players and clinicians. Experts will be invited to share insights into technology innovations and market development of medical and healthcare sectors. Exhibitors will present and demonstrate their latest products in exhibitor forums.
There creates strong synergy with the concurrent Hospital Authority Convention 2017, one of the region's largest events for healthcare professionals.
