Food Expo, Home Delights Expo, Beauty & Wellness Expo and Tea Fair Open in August
Alongside with Chinese Medicine Conference

Providing one-stop sourcing platform for trade and public visitors

28 June 2018 – Organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC),Food Expo, Home Delights Expo, Beauty & Wellness Expo and Hong Kong International Tea Fair will be staged together from 16 August 2018 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. In addition, the two-day International Conference of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine & Health Products (ICMCM), which is jointly organised with the Modernized Chinese Medicine International Association Ltd (MCMIA), will be held on 16 and 17 August to provide the latest market development and insights to industry professionals.
Benjamin Chau, Deputy Executive Director, HKTDC, said “Food Expo is the annual signature event in summer. Together with the concurrent Home Delights Expo and Beauty & Wellness Expo, the public can visit three large-scale exhibitions with the same ticket to enjoy one-stop shopping experience. Also staged concurrently are Food Expo’s Trade Hall, Tea Fair and ICMCM, targeting at trade buyers and industry players to provide an ideal platform for information exchange and sourcing to create crossover business opportunities.”
Food Expo: Serving global delicacies (16-20 August)
Entering its 29th edition, the Food Expo will comprise three sections including Trade Hall, Gourmet Zone and Public Hall to feature more than 1,500 exhibitors from over 20 countries and regions. Last year, the Food Expo drew nearly 500,000 public visitors while its Trade Hall attracted nearly 21,000 trade buyers.
Trade Hall (16-18 August) will be dedicated to trade buyers on the first two days to explore business opportunities with exhibitors, and will open to public visitors with ticket admission on the last day (18 August). Apart from themed product zones including the Halal Food zone and the Chinese Medicine zone, the Trade Hall will gather international pavilions such as the Chinese mainland, the Czech Republic, Japan, Korea and Poland. Featured products include fruit jam from Portugal, honey from New Zealand, coffee beans from Columbia, spicy fish curry powder from Malaysia and aloe from Korea.
During the fair period, industry professionals will discuss on the latest technology innovation in food industry, Halal food certification scheme and its market opportunities, franchising, testing and certification services, Chinese Medicine exhibitor forum and more, for participants to gain insights from each other.
Gourmet Zone (16-19 August) will feature more than 70 exhibitors under the themes of Western Delicacy, Asian Cuisine, Sweet Delight as well as Green Palate. The zone will showcase a wide range of high-end worldwide delicacies such as plant-based pork, truffle soy sauce, Japanese Wagyu beef, Spanish parma ham, specialty coffee, superior wine, new types of ice-cream and cheese among others.
Public Hall(16-19 August) will feature more than 70 exhibitors under the themes of Western Delicacy, Asian Cuisine, Sweet Delight as well as Green Palate. Home Delights Expo: Creating stylish homes (16-20 August) (17-21 August)
The fifth edition of the Home Delights Expo will gather more than 170 exhibitors to showcase a wide range of quality electrical appliances and household products, such as the double air-filtrated smart air purifier and the no-dust-bag mini vacuum cleaner using water filtration with various speed. Visitors can also find out other trendy household products ranging from kitchen appliances, bedroom items, cookware, kitchen utensils and bar accessories to massage chairs in the expo.
The expo’s highlight is Avenue of Delights, featuring numerous leading lifestyle brands from more than 40 exhibitors including A-Fontane, CLP, German Pool, Kenwood, Ladyship, Maxcare, Goodway, OGAWA, OTO, Tiger, Philips, STAUB, Towngas and ZWILLING J.A. HENCKELS.
This year, the HKTDC and the Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups will once again join hands to stage the “Home” for Youth Start-ups: Exhibition Experience Taster at the expo, providing an ideal platform for youth entrepreneurs to present their quality products and services.
Beauty & Wellness Expo: Showcasing Korean Beauty Trends (16-20 August)
In response to the rising awareness of healthy-living lifestyle, the expo will gather more than 80 exhibitors from Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan to showcase skincare and haircare products, spa massage products and health products, such as the herb soap made of essence extracted from 18 types of herbs. To echo with the high popularity of Korean cosmetics in the beauty industry, the expo will adopt the theme “Stylish K-Beauty ” this year. The HKTDC will cooperate with the Korea International Exhibition Center (KINTEX) for the first time to launch a brand-new pavilion, K-Beauty Expo Hong Kong , featuring a wide variety of products from more than 30 Korean brands. Meanwhile, visitors will also find some local Hong Kong brand names such as BE.ST, Easy Beauty, Gienne, Hair Again and Ocean Hair in the expo.
Hong Kong Hair & Beauty Merchants Association will feature around 10 exhibitors to present skincare and haircare products this year. Besides, there will be pavilions from Taiwan and Korea to showcase quality products.
Onsite activities to enhance shopping experience
A series of activities will be organised throughout the fair period. More than 20 celebrity chefs and famous F&B bloggers will present cooking demonstrations. These include Will Leung, talented chef at the French cuisine JUNON Restaurant; Gabriel Choy, Executive Chef of Seasons Group; Wong Wing Keung, Executive Chef of the Chinese cuisine Yee Tung Heen; and Bonnie Yves, Founder of Yves Kitchen. Some chefs will also demonstrate “less salt, less sugar” recipes in cooking demonstrations.
There will be seminars to discuss diet and health issues including healthy cooking with less salt and sugar, food waste recycling, the food map 2018–2019 Wan Chai a La Carte and Chinese medicine diet. Beauty experts will share tips on Korean beauty and makeup style such as practical tips for summer party and hair-styling sharing. Other activities include product demonstrations by exhibitors, lucky draw and product bidding. Besides, the popular Night Bazaar will return from 7pm every night between 16 and 19 August, offering featured products with special offers.
Tea Fair: Brewing opportunities in tea business (16-18 August)
The 10th edition of the Hong Kong International Tea Fair will open exclusively to trade buyers on the first two days, and welcome public ticket-holders on 18 August. The fair will gather more than 200 exhibitors from different countries and regions, including group pavilions from various Chinese mainland cities such as Fujian, Shaanxi, Hunan, Jiangxi and Jiangsu, as well as overseas participation such as exhibitors from India, Japan and Sri Lanka. The fair attracted over 15,000 international trade buyers last year, making it a premiere tea trading platform in Asia.
Exhibitors will present a wide variety of tea products including tea, tea packaging, tea processing equipment and testing services, tea ware, tea craft and tea technology. Visitors can also enjoy tea-food pairing experience at the Friends of Tea zone, where sweets, snacks and biscuits will be showcased. Some of the featured products include unfermented tea produced from Yunnan and tea caddies from the Qing Dynasty and Republic of China periods.
A series of events will be held during the fair including the Hong Kong International Tea Competition, where professional judges will review different tea categories through blind-tasting. Other events include tea tasting sessions, international cup warming, tea art performances and more. On the public day (18 August), there will be the International KamCha Competition 2018 Hong Kong Style Milk Tea – 10th Anniversary Special International Final and Yuan Yang Final. Public ticket-holders can also join a series of Tea Forums delivered by industry experts on topics like antique teaware, cooking with tea as well as tea zen.
ICMCM (16-17 August)
Organised by the HKTDC and the Modernized Chinese Medicine International Association Ltd (MCMIA), the International Conference of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine & Health Products (ICMCM) is going to keep practitioners abreast of the latest trends and developments. Heavyweight speakers from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Russia and the US will share the latest development of herbal medicines and its possible growth in future.
On 18 August, public ticket holders can join the Public Forum sessions with professional Chinese medicine practitioners to discuss on the practices to maintain good health.
