The 8th International Conference & Exhibition of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine & Health Products will run through 13-17 August, 2009 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, co-organised by Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) and Modernized Chinese Medicine International Association Ltd. The fair supports a high-quality Chinese medicine trading platform and promotes awareness of Chinese medicine around the world. Exhibits include Chinese Medicine, Health Supplements, Health Care & Therapy, Raw Materials and Equipment & Related Services.
The 2009 edition will feature 100 exhibitors from many countries and regions, including traditional strongholds for Chinese medicine such as Hong Kong, Macau, the Chinese mainland, Taiwan, as well as Japan, Korea, Singapore and Canada. G roup P avilions are an indication of the quality of the exhibitors: they include Heilongjiang Province, Jilin Province, Qinghai Province, Japan and Korea. The first-time Chongqing group pavilion is expected to be one of the fair highlights.
Many well-known exhibitors will make their appearance, including Infinitus ( Hong Kong) Company Limited, Peking Medicine Manufactory, Mayfair Medical Supplies Ltd and PuraPharm International (HK) Ltd.
The first two days of this event are open to industry players only, when Chinese medicine and health supplement producers, traders, trade buyers, researchers and experts can communicate , trade and strengthen co-operation. On the remaining three days (15-17 August), members of the public are invited. Exhibitors will be delighted at the chance to engage in trade and at the same time present their products and services to end-users, gaining vital market feedback on the spot.
Past events have been lauded by participants. Last year, Lee Wha-Dong, Project Manager of Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute for Oriental Medicine Industry from Korea said: “The facilities provided in the exhibition are of very high standard. I am delighted to hear the positive responses from potential buyers from Hong Kong, the Chinese mainland and Japan.”
The International Conference & Exhibition of the Modernization of Chinese Medicine & Health Products offers an important channel for connecting global buyers with local and international Chinese medicine professionals. In 2008, the fair attracted over 7,600 trade buyers from 57 countries and regions, and over 84,000 members of the public. A buyer in 2008, A. Kyriazis, Managing Director of Romios Trading Co Ltd from Cyprus, said: “The exhibition is large and interesting. I've found many interesting products such as rehabilitation remedies and machines, and I've located some good contacts.”
The two-day (13-14 August) professional conference is an international drawcard. Leading experts from Canada, the Chinese mainland, Taiwan, the US and Hong Kong are invited, including Prof CHE Chun-Tao, Director of School of Chinese Medicine in The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Prof Shilin CHEN, Director of Institute of Medicinal Plant Development of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the Chinese mainland, Dr Amy CHIU, Assistant Director of Health (Traditional Chinese Medicine) of Department of Health, Hong Kong. The distinguished experts will deliver presentations on the following topics: Herbal Resources and Authentication, Life-nurturing through the Modern Application of TCM, Regulations and Standards for Chinese Medicine, New Concepts in Chinese Medicine Research, and Chinese Medicine from IP to IPO.
Chinese m edicine is closely bound up with the ancient history and culture of China. Members of the public will be enlightened by attending exhibitors’ forums and Chinese medicines health public forums.
Running concurrently are two others fairs within the ‘Food & Health’ framework, the HKTDC Food Expo, the first Hong Kong International Tea Fair, as well as the first Hong Kong Lifestyle Showcase. Together the four fairs will provide a one-stop purchasing platform for all attendees.
Food Expo ticket holders have free admission to the other fairs , on days open to the public .
