Portable Charger Kit (PCK)

  • PCK is a handheld Electric Vehicle (EV) charger that works with proprietary AC power socket (PCK Socket) through wireless authentication.
  • After parking the vehicle, the driver can simply plug the charger to a nearby PCK Socket and get medium fast charging for the vehicle.
  • It eliminates the traditional bulky wall mount AC chargers by simple PCK Sockets which are small, low cost and easy for installation and maintenance. It is no longer a hurdle to install many PCK Sockets in car parks to be utilized by more electric vehicles. It suits perfect for vehicle charging in car parks where non-designated (“floating”) parking spaces in dominant or parking spaces are congested.
  • PCK will also sync up all charging records to a backend server so drivers can check their usage through internet or mobile phone.

Smart Vehicle-to-Home System for EV

  • Electric Vehicles (EVs) have the hidden benefits of performing as mobile power sources. Smart Vehicle-to-Home System (EVPOSSA V2H standard) can facilitate EV batteries as energy storage devices for households.

Palm Fusion Biometric Access Control System

  • The Palm Fusion Biometric Access Control System developed by ASTRI and its partner SSID from Sweden enables fully secure user identity verification.
  • Passwords and Pins can be stolen; digital signatures can be hacked; but there are certain unique features in the human body which are extremely difficult to forge – such as biometric attributes like people’s palmprint.
  • The System includes a contactless biometric sensing device that can capture an individual’s palm veins and palmprint pattern by radiating the infrared and visible light when a user puts his or her palm above it. As veins are beneath the skin, attempt to forge an identity are extremely difficult. Furthermore, one’s palmprint contains many differentiating features from others’, even identical twins don’t have exactly the same palmprint.
  • Identity management is a key issue across many different sectors as organisations and citizens strive to safeguard their information and digital assets. This innovative solution from ASTRI brings huge practical benefits through its robust access control mechanism. By using the fusion technology, ASTRI’s solution obtains a higher security level, combining both palm print and palm vein features.

“Follow-Me” Robots & Platooning Technology

  • To help workers deliver heavy items and minimise their risk of injury, the LSCM R&D Centre has developed the smart “Follow-Me” robots.
  • They can carry heavy and large objects while tracking and following the workers automatically. Configured with multiple sensors and advanced computer vision techniques, the robots can detect and avoid obstacles automatically, thus ensure the worker’s safety.
  • A platooning technology is also developed to facilitate the robots follow and control each other intelligently. A linking of two or more “Follow-Me” robots can improve efficiency and reduce turnaround time of delivery.
  • The technologies can be applied in warehouses and construction sites etc.

Intelligent item-handling system

  • The LSCM R&D Centre has developed an intelligent item-handling system by using a technology fusion of AI, Sensory and Robotics. Information of the items are collected by different kinds of sensors and analysed by advanced AI techniques and executed accordingly.
  • The Hong Kong Central Mail Centre has deployed this system. A multi-camera module analyses the items’ conditions (shape, size and stamp location, etc.) and the best stamping coordinate in real-time.  Then the conveyor belt, robot arm and end-effector coordinate to finish the whole stamping process accordingly. This technology automates the stamping process in post office and streamlines the operational efficiency.
