We are pleased to participate in the Cultural and Creative Zone for the first time to promote our foldable travel cutlery sets because the open booth format lets global buyers try our innovative design freely. As countries around the world encourage people to eliminate the use of disposable plastic cutlery and Hong Kong bans disposable plastic tableware, our foldable cutlery sets have attracted a lot of attention from local and international buyers. A buyer from a German distribution company will be our sole distributor in Germany and the UK and place an order for 10,000 sets valued at US$136,500. If the two markets are proven successful, he will bring our travel cutlery sets to other European countries. In addition, we have found potential distributors from Korea, Singapore and the US and potential buyers from Taiwan and Hong Kong. Separately, the news coverage on our foldable cutlery sets generated by the pre-fair press conference has attracted four local buyers from two department stores, a property investment company and an online store to contact us for business cooperation. We are satisfied with the results so far.

To look for new distributors, we are displaying The Swinging Sticks in the Cultural and Creative Corner. It is a nicely decorated open area which draws buyers to pass by and see our interesting products. Our attractive product showcase outside Hall 1 also directs buyers to visit our booth. We are happy with the quality of buyers whom we have met here. We have made good contacts with new buyers from Brazil, France, Korea, Spain, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Click2Match platform provides a nice tool for us to connect with potential distributors from Brazil and the UAE. The potential distributor from the UAE wants to buy 1,000 pieces worth US$40,000 while a Korean buyer from a five-star hotel group will close a US$20,000 deal with us. Home InStyle also gives us a good opportunity to promote our capabilities in producing promotional items for well-known brands.

Our acrylic houseware and tableware are exported mainly to Africa and GCC countries. We have made our first appearance in Home InStyle where we are impressed by the quality and internationality of buyers. The fair helps open up new markets and connects us with new buyers from Canada, Europe, Mainland China, Morocco, the Philippines and South America. New buyers not only value our unique designs but also like our good quality and reasonable prices. We are confident that we’ll strike a HK$400,000 (US$51,000) deal with a Moroccan buyer. This is the first time that we have brought 14 design-driven Taiwanese brands to participate in Home InStyle. The Cultural and Creative Corner, which looks like a tasteful European show, provides a dynamic ambience for us to look for distributors and cooperation opportunities. We have established new connections with quality buyers from Germany, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Mainland China, the Philippines, Poland, Thailand and the UK. We collected two to three solid enquiries about each brand on the first day of the fair. More than 10 buyers are interested in buying aroma diffusers. Some buyers from Fashion InStyle want to buy our decorative items for their boutiques and they could even become our distributors. Home InStyle and Fashion InStyle being held concurrently create cross-industry opportunities and synergies to both exhibitors and buyers alike. As Hong Kong is an important window for us to reach out to international buyers, we’ll definitely bring more brands to the fair next year.

Since its establishment in 2017, Liffy has actively participated in Home InStyle, previously known as the Hong Kong Houseware Fair. Home InStyle is very important to our business development because all our overseas customers come from this fair. Our home and garden decorations are exported mainly to Australia, Europe and the US. At this year’s fair, we have met with new buyers from Europe, Taiwan and the US who are very interested in our glass decorations. Two new buyers from the UK and the US are very likely to place orders for our products worth US$40,000 in total. We expect more buyers to visit our booth in the next three days of the fair. Specialising in the production of fine embroidered linens, Paramount is a long-term supporter of the Hong Kong International Home Textiles and Furnishings Fair, now merged into Home InStyle. This year I am happy to have got in touch with a diversity of new buyers from Australia, the Czech Republic, India, Taiwan and Thailand. Thanks to the HKTDC’s continued efforts to improve the Click2Match platform, it opens up a new avenue for me to explore business opportunities. I have met with two potential buyers in person through the Click2Match meetings. The fair has helped me to expand into new markets like the Czech Republic. A buyer from the Czech Republic has placed a trial order worth US$14,000 for my new nautical collection. I expect five to six new orders worth US$50,000-60,000 to come after the fair. As the Click2Match online show will run until 30 April, I’ll continue virtual discussions with buyers who are interested in buying home textiles. Meanwhile, the new Scan2Match function allows me to send online messages to buyers who have scanned my QR code.

The Click2Match platform provides an efficient way for me to pre-schedule physical meetings with suppliers. After these Click2Match meetings, I have shortlisted three good suppliers of kitchen knife sets, laundry bags and plastic furniture from Mainland China and Sri Lanka. The plastic furniture that I saw here is very innovative and unavailable in European fairs. For the laundry bags, I’ll give European consumers one more option which is made from recycled materials because they are increasingly willing to pay more for sustainable products. I am very interested in coffee tables, fire-proof ceiling lamps, felt chairs, storage baskets and decorative lamps offered by 10-12 potential suppliers from Bangladesh, Mainland China and Sri Lanka. As less plastic and less waste become important trends in our markets, we prefer to choose non-plastic products and good quality products which are more durable. I visit Home InStyle again this year to source new products for creating bedroom and kitchen layouts in our department stores. I have seen more brands in the Hall of Elegance and a more diverse range of products this year as compared to my last visit six years ago. I plan to buy 1,000 pieces of foldable storage boxes and 1,000 sets of bone china tableware from two potential suppliers that I have found at this fair. I am very interested in olive oil-infused cookware that uses less oil. I’ll look for more new suppliers of towels and bed linens in the World of Fine Textiles. Separately, I find the new Scan2Match very useful. After I have scanned the QR code of an exhibitor’s booth, this exhibitor sends me product catalogues and we start business negotiations.
